Chic

1989-1992
- Over
a period of four years Chic organized and led about
thirty camps, courses and adventures for The Alpine
Club of Canada. These included ski camps, summer climbing
camps, leadership courses, rock climbing courses,
winter climbing courses and ski mountaineering courses.
Of special note was the Youth Camp which Chic founded
and ran for two seasons, a ski traverse of the Southern
Rockies from the Columbia Icefield to Kickinghorse
Pass which was successfully guided and a guided climb
of Mount Logan in which all six guests (including
Don Forest aged 71 years!) reached the west peak.
- Over
a period of four years Chic served on a number of
committees for The Alpine Club of Canada including
the publications committee, the camps committee, the
Calgary Section climbing committee and the Lake Louise
Alpine Centre marketing committee.

1989-1991
- Served
for two years as a director of Mountain Equipment
Co-op. Served on the planning, finance and environment
committees and organized the twentieth anniversary
celebrations.

1990
- Guided
the Rogers Pass to Bugaboos Ski Traverse.
1991
- Was
given a special service award by The Alpine Club of
Canada for ...devoted and exceptional service
to the club far beyond The Call of Duty.
- Made
an expedition to the Pantheon Range in the Coast Mountains
of BC and climbed a new route on Mount Vishnu.
- Was
a founding member of the Bow Corridor Organization
for Responsible Development (BowCORD) and served as
membership secretary and treasurer for two years.
1992
- Guided,
for the second time, the Southern Rockies Ski Traverse,
from the Columbia Icefield to Kickinghorse Pass.
